A researcher role brings together intellectual and analytical skills needed to interpret complex briefs, research skills to identify outstanding candidates and interpersonal skills to engage senior leaders on behalf of our clients.

OUR OFFER

Location: For this opportunity, we are looking for someone from the African continent. Whilst it would be ideal if you are co-located with colleagues in either Kenya (Nairobi) or South Africa, we welcome applications from across the continent.

Contract/Remuneration: You would join us as an Associate, remunerated on a per project basis. 

Helping you to grow: You will work alongside other researchers and be accountable to an experienced consultant where you will be exposed to the full scope of an executive search process. There is opportunity to contribute to the life of the company and grow your knowledge and skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research on multiple projects for candidates for search assignments. These may be in Europe, Africa, Asia or the Americas.
  • Take briefs from consultants and/ or clients regarding search projects, and write criteria and reports.
  • Build lists of potential candidates with the help of the Lead Consultant.
  • Build networks with candidates and clients within the International Development sector.
  • Build knowledge on the International Development sector.
  • Screen candidates and assess suitability for roles (by video).
  • Approach candidates on agreed research lists by email and social media.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES

Candidates must have proficient, demonstrable knowledge of the following areas:

  • Recruitment or research (ideally including candidate research and assessment)
  • The International Development or Not for Profit sector(s). We will also consider new graduates with International Relations, International Development or Public Health degrees who have proven research skills
  • Project management.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, MS Word and Powerpoint
  • Understanding of the African continental development context

Candidates must demonstrate the following skills:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills- ability to think laterally and creatively about a brief and interpret this into sourcing suitable candidates
  • Networking and relationship-building- ability to approach a wide range of contacts with a high degree of discretion and professionalism.
  • Sound written language and communication skills – fluency in written and spoken English. Additional language skills are very welcome.
  • Aptitude in prioritisation, decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Outstanding organisational and communication abilities.
  • Able to listen, digest, interpret and retain complex information.
  • Flexibility and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities.

Candidates must demonstrate the following behavioural competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage candidates and networks successfully and with discretion, integrity and diplomacy
  • Commitment to Red Sea’s mission and values.
  • Able to work in a global team, collaborating with and supporting one another.
