International Justice Mission (IJM) is the global leader in protecting vulnerable people from violence around the world. Our global team of over 1,200 professionals are at work in 33 offices across 23 countries. Together, we are catalysing a global revolution that will rescue millions, protect half a billion, and make justice unstoppable.
Motivated by God’s call to seek justice for the oppressed, we believe that the way we work is as important as the results we achieve. We are a global community that cares for one another. We value joy and celebration, and we strive to provide professional excellence to all those we serve.
Established in 2020, the Africa and Europe Programme and Business Development team is responsible for identifying, securing, and managing all funding from statutory donors within Europe for IJM. The team supports IJM in: Strategic Partnerships & Analytics; Business/Programme development & Grants/Contract Support; and Compliance & Policy for our stakeholder donors.
The Programme and Business Development team is a bridge between institutional donors and country programmes: providing expert technical advice to country programmes, while maintaining portfolio-level visibility to ensure consistency and compliance, and support to IJM Regional structures and Advancement Offices in management of risk. This team ensures that the IJM global policies and procedures, alongside European donor compliance policies and procedures are implemented consistently and supports all staff working across the grants management cycle for all restricted funding from European government sources. The team operates a community of practice approach across the teams in the UK, Netherlands, Germany and the Africa and Europe Region (AER) regional office. Some roles are also linked into the Global Programs Team or Global Finance Team based in Washington DC to ensure cohesion with IJM Global RACI and policies.
The Specialist, Programme Design, Development and Partnerships (EU) supports and expands IJM’s programmes through designing, developing and managing high-impact, strategic partnerships with institutional funders connected with the European Union (EU). Support will range from opportunity tracking to proposal development, and submission. The role will work closely with technical and programme teams across IJM regions and at country level to develop technical aspects of competitive proposals primarily for EU funding mechanisms, and others as directed by the AER Chief Development Officer. The role covers the preparatory work required to design competitive proposals (including concept notes and other similar funding proposals) and the design work which should precede writing work. The role will also be the organisation’s go to for EU funding strategy alignment with IJM’s goals, and will monitor market trends providing analytical information relevant to business development, particularly information which helps to improve the design of bids, and their compliance with donor requirements.
This role will also manage the EU portfolio of grants and serve as IJM’s point of contact and liaison with the EU to ensure all grants acquired are able to meet their grant objectives and budget requirements, and that all grants are effectively managed from start-up to closeout in accordance with donor requirements and IJM standards. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of working on new business efforts in international development with a range of multilateral and bilateral donors, in particular from the EU.
