Red Sea Executive Search is a dynamic and diverse, international, independent executive search consultancy recruiting senior management and executive staff for global change. The company is a purpose focused brand with a view on globalization; and aims to act as both a networking service and a recruitment service provider to the world’s foundations, trusts, and charity organizations.
Red Sea has been working in Africa since our company’s launch in 2018, but our consultants have been recruiting in the continent over 20 years. The region is currently the fastest growing section in the business and makes up around 30% of the overall company revenue. We currently have two consultants located in Nairobi, Kenya, and two operational staff in South Africa, who form part of a wider, global, virtual, team.
We have a varied client base across the continent, including several large international NGOS. As part of the next phase of our company expansion, we are looking to both grow our African client base and move to work with regional development banks and bilateral/multilateral intergovernmental agencies, to hire their leadership and elevate future generations of African talent.
As such we are looking for two Senior Consultants to join our growing team, one of whom will be based in Southern Africa
About the role
You will be responsible for delivering executive search and recruitment assignments up to and including Regional and Country Senior Leadership team. You will work with other consultants (based in the US, UK, Spain, Kenya and Turkey) or independently on a search project, always in partnership with Red Sea’s Client Services and Operations Team (based in the UK and South Africa).
The role combines networking, candidate research and client management in both global development and philanthropy and offers the opportunity for you to connect and work with INGOs and UN agencies. We already have client relationships in Africa which you will be given access to, along with the opportunity to leverage your own connections to build relationships with new clients and candidates.

We are looking for a collaborative, values-driven, self-starter who is interested in trends and changes across global civil society and motivated to join a young, growing company.
You will be an excellent communicator with highly development interpersonal, networking and client management skills. You will be a skilled influencer, able to negotiate and persuade effectively and provide effective, bespoke solutions to our clients.
You will have experience in senior/executive search, gained either through an in-house recruitment role or from an agency.
You will have either Senior HR/talent acquisition experience in INGOs in Africa or previous search experience at Executive level in Africa.
Location: For this opportunity we are looking for an African national. We are open to locations across Southern Africa with a slight preference for candidates already based South Africa to be co-located with our team there.
Remuneration: Consultants are typically engaged as self-employed associates and are remunerated per project. However we’d welcome the opportunity to engage with you on this as part of the application process.
Career growth: There is plenty of opportunity to contribute to the life of Red Sea and to partner with experienced executive recruiters to learn and grow.
